Full-Time Materials Services Manager
Six Mile Regional Library District is conducting a search for a Materials Services Manager. The person in this position maintains the effective and efficient management and daily operational functions of the district’s collections while being an integral part of the overall management team of the library.

We are looking for friendly, confident, energetic, and highly motivated individuals with superb customer service, practical problem-solving skills, the ability to make independent decisions, strong interpersonal people and communication skills, and great technical skills to join our SMRLD team. Experience with community engagement is highly desirable.
This position includes participation, involvement, and engagement with community groups, partnerships, organizations, boards, and committees. Primary responsibilities include ensuring the effective and efficient daily operations of the materials services department; maintaining positive relationships among staff, patrons, communities, and others; scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage at all times; and managing people.
The person in this position also occasionally staffs the research (reference) desk, provides reference and readers advisory services, identifies and/or participates in programs and services, assumes responsibility for collection development functions, and makes recommendations to further our goals and enhance our role in the community. Our team is comprised of a staff of thirty, which includes seven other professional librarians.

Qualifications include a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited university and a minimum of two years of experience as a librarian. Preference to applicants with experience managing and/or supervising people; handling budgets; vendor relations; strategic collection planning and/or collection management. Experience in a union environment is a plus.
The Full-Time Materials Services Manager will work 40 hours a week. This position is based at our Delmar Avenue location.
