Sculptor Gib Singleton 1935 – 2014
Wednesday, March 12th, 2014Granite City High School Alumni and Wall of Fame inductee Gib Singleton recently passed from this Earth. He is known worldwide as a modern master of bronze sculptures. We are planning a showing of some of his artwork at the renovated library building later this year. We only wish he could have enjoyed the show.

Grand Re-Opening at Niedringhaus School
Thursday, October 10th, 2013Please join us in celebrating the reopening of the downtown library at its temporary location, 2901 State Street. On Saturday, October 12, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., a variety of events are planned for all ages.
• Kids help paint a mural for the library with local artist Jennifer Flores. (12 p.m.-4 p.m.)
• Experience new library technologies at the technology petting zoo: e-readers, borrowing e-books, and our new digital magazine collection. (12 p.m.-4 p.m)
• Representatives from the Madison County Health Department host an informational session on the Affordable Care Act and help with enrollment for health coverage. (1 p.m.-3 p.m.)
• A shred truck from Shred-It allows each person to bring up to 3 boxes of paper for FREE shredding. Also, a truck from the Dell Reconnect Technology Recycling with Goodwill program accepts any computer items to be discarded. (1 p.m.-3 p.m.)
• Granite City author Rita Rey signs copies of her latest novel. (2 p.m.-4 p.m.)

Gregg McGee Celebrates 40 Years!

Join Us on Our 100th Birthday!
Thursday, December 6th, 2012It seems like just yesterday we were turning 50!
Please join us on Saturday, December 15, from 1pm – 4pm for our centennial open house. We’ll have games for all ages, music, demonstrations, and even a raffle! Learn more about our upcoming renovation plans, and meet library staff who are usually behind the scenes.
Please note that the Johnson Road library will be closed that day so that their staff members are able to help with and attend the birthday celebration.
