It’s easy to get a library card!
All you need is a photo ID with your current Granite City, Mitchell, Pontoon Beach, or Arlington address (ex. driver’s license, State of Illinois ID card, Granite City Park District ID).
If your photo ID does not have your current address, please bring both your ID and one of the following, with your current address:
- checkbook, with the address imprinted
- voter’s registration card
- utility bill dated within the last two months
- mail from a government agency dated within the last two months
Seventh and eighth graders and high school students without proper identification may use ID belonging to one of their parents or a legal guardian to obtain an adult library card. The parent or guardian must be in the library with the teenager when registering for the library card.
Children may be issued a library card as soon as they are able to write their first and last name. A parent or legal guardian must show their current library card or the identification described above. Children’s cards may only be used to check out materials from the children’s department.
Notice to Non-Residents
Because the library is financially supported by the taxes paid by residents of the Six Mile Regional Library District, it is necessary to charge persons living outside the library district a fee for a library card. An annual non-resident card may be purchased for $125.00 and used by the entire household.
